New Grandstand for the Circuit de Catalunya

Barcelona’s grand prix circuit has announced the opening of a new grandstand. With popularity of the sport rising thanks to the success of Spaniard Fernando Alonso, ‘Grandstand S’ has been built in front of the circuit’s new chicane near the end of the lap to accommodate even more spectators.

The new grandstand has a capacity of 2000 seats, and the director of operations, Ramon Maltas, has confirmed that tickets have nearly sold out. The extra seating takes the circuit’s capacity to 76,700 seats. Last year, a record 131,200 people attended the race.

“That’s what remains for the event in our country,” Maltas confirmed. “Once these tickets are sold out, the tickets for the Formula 1 will be finished.”
