Honda chief Nick Fry has ridiculed his rival BMW-Sauber’s decision to use Sebastien Vettel as a third test driver in 2007. He said that the scrapping of the ‘third car’ rule next year along with the policy of letting a test driver drive in the free sessions will effetively rob a race driver of valuable practice at the circtui.
He explained to Speed TV, “We’ve made it very clear to any prospective test drivers that our race drivers want every bit of practice they can get.” He said that he thought the idea of Vettel alternating between Heidfeld and Kubica’s cars seemed a disruptive policy. “That will really piss off the race drivers. What are you saying to them? You’re saying probably you haven’t got a drive next year.”
