London to host an F1 Grand Prix?

Bernie Ecclestone has revealed that the idea of an F1 race coming to the streets of London still has merit and there is still a chance that it may happen.

In 2004, Formula 1 teams met in London and paraded down Regent Street. The event was so successful that many believed that the British Grand Prix might take to the streets of London with Ecclestone showing enthusiasm for the idea. However, the idea was later mooted after it was deemed the costs and disruption to traffic would be too high.

The astounding success of British driver Lewis Hamilton has brought new life to F1 in Great Britain and Ecclestone has signalled that if the money can be raised, London may host a future Grand Prix race.

“It would be great it we could do it,” he revealed. “The idea is not dead in the water.”
