Fernando Alonso has stated his hope that his home grand prix this weekend will be a dry affair.
The Ferrari team have arguably suffered the most from the changeable conditions that have affected all the races so far except Bahrain, in which they took a one-two.
“I hope it is dry,” Alonso said on Wednesday, “because the rain has really affected things in the last three grands prix. There has only been one normal weekend [in Bahrain] and we won. Of course, winning again is the goal and the dream [this weekend] but a podium would satisfy me. After Bahrain we had a couple of fourths and a retirement, so three or four podiums in a row now could put us in a pretty good situation for the world championship.”
Race fans will be hoping, conversely, that it is dry at Catalunya – a circuit which has in recent years failed to provide entertainment unless it has rained.
