The Renault spygate issue was decided before the season, when a team which recently won two titles would certainly have still been "in the title race".

To be honest, it was pretty clear Renault had lost their way and that their parent company weren't interested in giving them more resources to dig themselves out of the hole they got themselves into. It was clear even in 2005 and 2006 that Renault were punching well above their weight.

Can't you see that in rationalising away LH being winched back on the track is every bit as bad, and destroys your credibility among objective observers?

I can, yes, but there was nothing in the rules to disallow it. Thankfully, it has since been made illegal.

How do you know that Todt would be a biased dictator? That's your unfounded supposition. Todt has not shown signs of being dictatorial during his management of motor racing teams, with MS, Brawn, et. al. being given considerable responsibility, rather than being kept in line. :drink::yikes:

Todt has got a good CV, granted, but he's a Ferrari man, just as I'm a McLaren man. You also don't that Todt won't be biased. There are a number of other good candidates who could do just as good a job as Todt and be much less controversial.

Massa ATM seems to need everyone to help wipe his bottom

Massa sure needs a little help there.
Then again, Kimi has what it takes to help him.........maybe a little late braking in the first corner at Brazil?? :hehe::hehe: I mean we all know how easily you can miss the braking point and we all know that it´s just a human mistake :bs::bs:
Or maybe Kimi will just forget to brake at a red light at the pits? You never know but I´m sure we will have a lot to see in the next race :clap:

Todt? No thank you very much. Someone from outside the terrible twosome please - no history or direct links to either Ferrari or McClaren. They don't have a monopoly on experienced, intelligent arbitrators. Not to besmirch Todt's character in any way but someone who is viewed as completely impartial (and is therefore free from having any decision they make called into question, rightly or wrongly) is needed.

I think we need the best man for the job, not a person seen as acceptable to disgruntled fans. Any belief of bias for Todt, or belief of lack of bias for someone else, would easily change with a short time of them working on the job. A season would suffice. But we'd expect a new head of the FIA to be in the job for much longer than one season. Therefore the FIA needs the best person for the job, not someone who is politically expedient.

I agree with you in terms of getting the best man for the job. I'm sure there are at least a half dozen experienced racing people around the world who can do just as good a job as Todt whilst having not been associated with either of the main title protagonists in F1. I don't think it's an either or personally. Quite possible to appoint someone who ticks all the boxes I should think.

Personally speaking, I don't think it would be a great injustice if Todt was the choice and there's no doubting his wealth of experience. However, the real world sometimes demands change that also includes other provisos for the overall benefit of a particular sport/entity/whatever. In some peoples' eyes the credibility of the FIA is in question, whether that's real or imagined I can't say.

I actually don´t even worry about the last race because Massa is the winner without a doubt, the FIA will once again step in, actually the FIA will give a penalty to Lewis for having a Ferrari engine instead of a Merc and after further investigation there is actually a 780 page Ferrari document under the seat in Lewis car :hehe::hehe::hehe::hehe:

At least he wouldn't get done for being underweight after the race. :D
