The EU doesn't get a say in tobacco advertising outside of the EU unless it is concerning a country that wants to enter the EU, in which case I think (but I am not sure at all) that they have to conform to a number of EU regulations before they are allowed to enter. Outside the EU, teams are allowed to advertise tobacco on their car. The barcode on the Ferraris, I feel, is still tobacco advertising because everyone will recognise it still as Marlboro. They should just leave it blank, or put Ferrari on there or something, in my opinion.

But I don't really mind, to be honest.

Monaco (like San Marino) is not a member of the EU.

Like in many things, their actions conform to the letter of the rules, but not the spirit.

always trying to get the chance of putting yourselves against Ferrari  grow up kidz!

Um, excuse me, I am not a Ferrari hater. In fact, they're one of my top few teams. Fact is, they're actions are legal, but, as I said, do not conform to the spirit of the rule. It's got nothing to do with "putting myself against" Ferrari, it's just a fact.

Marlboro still appear on the Ferraris because they're not fussed about the barcode on the cars in the country enforcing the tobacco bans. Other tobacco companies might not like it but Marlboro are fine with it, hence why they still appear on the Ferraris. The same would happen with John Player Special and other companies if they were happy to have barcodes or subliminals replacing their names.

it says what you associate it with.... Marlboro. form of advertising by recognition.

Correct. The bar code is so recognisable Ferrari may as well stick Marlboro on the car.

Please explain how I am a hypocrite. Have I ever said I was against tobacco advertising? Am I a legal body that has banned tobacco advertising? Am I a legal body that has banned tobacco advertising but allows one team to continue to do so?

Look at your statement with the swipe at Ferrari - there's a clear  rolling its eyes - how else should one interpret your post than as a disapproval of what Ferrari and Marlboro are doing with their sponsorship?

You interpret it as my swipe at the double-standards of the powers that be, by allowing Ferrari to carry on advertising tobacco whilst the other teams cannot and are not.

Says who? They obviously conform with the law - there's no advertising of a cigarette brand name on the car. Any other team or cigarette brand would be free to do the same. So, there's no double standard at all. Ferrari as in many situations before is just being smarter, more sophisticated than the rest - they found a way to retain a big sponsor and keep them happy to stay on. Chapeau!

The FIA are only enforcing the anti-tobacco laws where it is banned. It's not banned in Bahrain so the FIA don't enforce it, that's why like I said earlier Ferrari still use Marlboro because they're happy for their name to appear on the car where it's allowed and for the barcode to be used where it's banned. I'm sure McLaren would be doing the same thing too if they still used Marlboro as well, and if West were happy to do exactly the same likewise.
