I remember the good old times when Senna was the qualifying master, and despite taking the majority of his 65 pole positions in (one of the) fastest cars, it earned him the respect he deserved for it. FFW 20+ years and it's all down to the car and boring.

And one of the principles of qualifying is for safety. The quicker guys at the front, the slower guys at the back, less chance of tripping over each other.
