Plus it's mostly statistical, i.e., it's with 5 sigma certainty (99.99994) that the patterns they see are not random and therefore are caused by the Higgs Boson.

I read that article as "We found the Higgs Boson (spl) to quickly so now we have to make up a reason for our existence"
