Well this just happens to be my favourite track, and now my favourite trophy too!
Oh and on the Heidfeld-Buemi incident, I do believe Buemi was at fault there, he moved to one side to defend and moved back after Heidfeld was already alongside. Harsh penalty though, a drive through would've been much more appropriate.

Most optimistic I've been as a Ferrari fan for any race this year.

Super-soft and soft tyres (no heating up problems for SF). No rain and temps at over 25 (hopefully higher) others will have to work hard to conserve tyres. Car keeps getting better and more upgrades coming. We were super competitive at Germany even given we were on a wet setup.

Given there was actually a drizzle when the cars were lined up on the grid, I'm quite sure Redbull and McLaren wouldn't have gone for a full 'dry' setup themselves?

Not much they can do on the grid, remember teams must race with the car setup that they qualified with. I doubt any of the top teams h ad a wet setup, it's not really done anymore, even in a wet qualifying session. I remember DC commenting that this was the case.

Ferrari being on a wet setup hasn't been on any media sites, perhaps the rumour was started by a tifosi to explain the gap in Q.

That was my thoughts as well, the late 90's era and early 2000s had this dry/wet setup thing which had a different ride height, suspension settings and camber, etc but nowadays you don't hear things like this anymore. Maybe a little adjustment here or there, but not really significantly affecting performance.

Oh ye of little faith Here's the first article I read on it. Here's the relevant quote in case you don't want to read the lot:-

Domenicali says Ferrari’s German GP performance was even more encouraging given that the team has edged towards a wet set-up.

“Of course we were expecting rain. I don’t know if the others we were really setting up the cars for dry conditions. We took some compromises because we thought it was raining conditions. It’s even better to see with this kind of compromise the car was quite competitive."

Beg to differ with you here mate, there's quote a lot of difference from a wet to dry setup.

As Domenicali said, compromises. The same way others' might have taken, surely...since everyone was expecting rain at some point. During the race preview (I was streaming BBC) Horner was posed the question if he was expecting rain and his response was "Surely, the question is when".

Teams that went on a full dry setup, no compromises took a real gamble then. Maybe Force India were one of those? McLaren as well? Who knows.

Even if Ferrari did run a wet setup raised ride height, more wing and softer suspension setup, they could have changed their wing setup in the race, I can't recall them taking wing off Fernando's or Felipe's car during the first stops.

After this weekend, 4 weeks until Spa Football starts next weekend so that will help pass the time. I hope this race is good. Seems like its going to be. A lot heating up the past couple of races with 5 or 6 cars having a chance to win(sorry button). No excuses for any team in qualifying and race day with not picking the right set up this weekend with the forecast of sun. I dont think redbull will win until singapore perhaps. We will see

DRS activation zone will be on the start/finish straight with the dectection zone being before the final corner.
