Nobody is giving the name a chance. In the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't matter as long as it provides good racing.

SPA = Spa Francorchamps
Monza = Cicuit Autodromo De Nationale De Monza (or whatever) tifosiville..
Monaco = Cote' De Azure, Monte Carlo, Casino Royale

I think people may just call it Austin after awhile

Austin = Circuit of the Americas, COTA, etc..

If I were going to a race, I would call it by its short name.. Like "I'm going to Indy for the Moto GP race".

Do they have investors from North and south america or something? Will profits be shared over both continents?

Short of this "coming together" of nations over both continents to get the track built, the name is just pretentious and dumb.

It just wont sound right when a driver does an interview and says: "The cicuit of the americas is a great track, really love sector 2 here, i think it will suit our car well".

Just doesnt work if you ask me :-?

I'm with you on that. It sounds douche-y as hell. I'm gonna face palm when bob varsha says during the start, "for the first time ever at the circuit of the americas, here we go!!" /facepalm

Yet that would have been percieved as more 'arrogant'

If you live in Texas you are aloud to be arrogant about it. LOL

I am just glad we have a track, in fact, i am probally the first member to visit the actual track location. 1st

The name should reflect somthing about Texas and where the track is. Not unity. It should be named after Sam Houston, Steven F. Austin, or one many other great Texans. The name should reflex where the track is. The Track of the Americas does not do that. It sounds like it is the only track in the whole American Continent(North and South) that can host a F1 race. And we all know it is not.

It sounds pretty bad and I agree that a name like that is rather pompous and also suggests this track has stood for 50 years or so. I hope the drivers/teams don't abbreviate it to COTA either that just sounds too corporate.

You will enjoy F1 more when you rid yourself of all the trivial :bs: you percieve as relevant and just concentrate on the racing.

Well this is all we have until there is racing there.

Yeah, something like Texas Longhorn Circuit:

It's already been incorporated into the design of the track. There's a section, I haven't read anything specifically on it, but it's too much of a coincidence, that looks like the outline of a longhorn. I'm sure they'll call it the longhorn esses.
