Now to all you Aussies... don't even THINK of rioting come late March.

I'm glad the grand prix was cancelled; I was disgusted at the thought of having a race there with all that's going on. And hopefully we can get rid of Bahrain for good.

Or at least hold off on the natural disasters for the duration.

They're planning on using the movable rear wings vertically as rudders just in case.
Ongoing deficits of the Formula 1 races, amounting to up to 5.3 million Euro per race that had to be covered by the local communities, made it likely the contract between the Hockenheimring and the Formula 1 would not be extended after the Grand Prix of 2010. However, in October 2009 the contract for the circuit to hold the German GP was extended to 2018, with the FOA agreeing to cover any losses the event incurs.

Wiping a country of the map strikes me as cutting your nose of to spite your face

I mean the race, of course
F1 teams would probably cringe at this thought, but I'll throw it out there anyway.
Looking at the 2011 calendar; they race in Budapest on July 31st and resume on August 26th at Spa. At the cost of a mid-season break, why couldn't they throw Hockenheimring in the mix of that time frame as a replacement for Bahrain? It's relatively close to Belgium and that circuit rocks.
Not to mention, the FOA has already provided their golden parachute to residents of the local community...Ongoing deficits of the Formula 1 races, amounting to up to 5.3 million Euro per race that had to be covered by the local communities, made it likely the contract between the Hockenheimring and the Formula 1 would not be extended after the Grand Prix of 2010. Wiping a race of the map isn't much better
