GPUpdate reports;
It has emerged in the Bahraini press that protesters are to target the season-opening Formula 1 race in a bid to ‘draw attention to their cause’, with capital city Manama currently scene of numerous riots which could also affect this weekend's GP2 races.

As reported on Tuesday, the Grand Prix is poised to be an ideal target for rioters thanks to its global reach of some 527 million television viewers.

“For sure F1 is not going to be peaceful this time,” Nabeel Rajab, Vice President of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights, told Arabian Business. “They’ll be lots of journalists, a lot of people looking and (the government) will react in a stupid manner as they did today and yesterday. And that will be bloody but will be more publicised.”

The protests in Bahrain follow other recent conflicts in the Arab world, such as those in Tunisia and Egypt.

Well just plant around a 100 guys hired as security with AK47s and blast anyone who comes close to the circuit! Refund the ticket prices to everyone who's already bought them, I dont mind empty grandstands. I'm not waiting another 2 weeks extra to watch an F1 race!!

I'm almost in agreement with your barbarism, don't get in the way of my F1!

I'm just sayin... Bernie better watch it over there, cause they'll make Brazil look tame by comparison.

Actually I appreciate Bahrain as the first track. It has a wide circuit with plenty of 'open' space...its the perfect location to get acclimatised with the new cars circling around the track! Since its the first race, it makes it a bit more exciting than it should be....and then we move on to real race tracks from there. :D

Positive thinking. It helps.

Humanity is stupid, when you take a look at it in global!
A small group of impotent old farts runs the world as they want to and secures all the cash income that's possible, and, because of that, someone trying to fight them wants to endanger our Formula 1... Again, damn politics...

I dont know whether its plain passion for F1 or sheer ignorance that people are moaning that potentially the biggest series of events in 20 years is on our dooorstep and these opressed people should hang on for a bit longer so we can sit back in relative luxury and enjoy a gp, one of which all other times we harshly crticise :rolleyes::hehe:

Seriously though Bahraini's wait until the 14th.

That's no hating politics, thats objecting to one particular viewpoint of politics, which is political in itself.

Ditch it ideally for more testing time instead and start the season right down under in Australia.
