By far the fastest driver today..With the same car he'll destroy anyone!

LH: 157 pts.
JB: 147 pts.
Destroy? Really?

With the 'same' car let's take into account reliability issues are the same as well. Taking Lewis' positions in the Spanish/Hungary races assuming he finished them, you'll find the scoreboard leaning more towards 'Destroy'....I assure you.

This is all 'ifs' of course, so it doesn't matter. But what matters is Lewis beats Jenson and no one has any doubts he will. As long as the car doesn't buckle under him too many times from now.

Have you ever considered that Lewis' car breaks more often because of his driving style? Driving the car fast while bringing the car home is another aspect of F1; Jenson will almost certainly bring the car home, maybe further down the road but he is unlikely to crashout. It's kinda the tortoise and the hare story really, Jenson could conceivably beat Lewis because he is friendlier on the car. But that said, the McLaren is pretty tough, so Jenson will need to play Lewis at his own game unless of course it rains for the remainder of the season, Jenson is the better driver in the wet I believe! I'm not willing to count JB out just yet!!

I dont think any of the McLaren breakdowns have been due to driving styles. Lewis' two were faulty components(and very costly since he was in high scoring positions both times-but thats how it goes) and Jens(was his one or two?)Well one as down to an error by the mechanics.

No, not considered that because it shouldn't be a factor. Unless he scrapes his car against walls or bangs into them, the car is theoretically built to be driven hard on the tarmac and kerbs. If it can't take that beating, then it shouldn't be on the track. Or McLaren should openly state that the "car was driven too fast" or "Lewis needs to slow down as our cars are shiny trinkets which are also fragile".

I don't believe Jenson is better in the wet, as China showed Lewis speedily catching up on him in dire conditions until he was called into the pits. Jenson is better at the Roulette/Blackjack game of predicting when and where the raindrops will start falling, that I'd agree with.

I hope though both Lewis and Jenson have a chance to race closely with each other in pouring rain. That would be a battle I am craving to see. :drink:

The reality is not a xbox F1 game. Cars *do* break down because of the driver's driving style.
And it's not really all the team's fault when it happens.

But Lewis' two weren't because of that. Neither would I blame the team. Jens' was a mechanics error

Yes Yes I'm sure....are you asking it multiple times because you're struggling to recall a mistake? I don't blame you.

Who is the best? still have to wait a few more races, right now they are all about tied... very close. If he finishes with the best results in the end of this season (even regardless of whether he won the WDC or not) he may be the best driver in the season. But right now, still some guys are very close and doing as good if not better.

Errr..so now you're saying the person who wins the WDC is the best this year. Okay, if this is how you judge, why don't we delete threads like this as they are just a waste of space...

Did you read the post?
Again, and for like the 50th time. Are you deliberately misinterpreting what others write or are you simply unable to make out what is written?? if you do have some reading issues you can say so, i wouldnt make fun of you or anything... but seriously, you have to stop misinterpreting posts.

Yeah...and what vast majority thinks does matter. No matter what 'specific' group they are, Hamilton isn't the only British driver on the grid now is he. If he was, your quote will be more relevant.

The vast majority of...

Lewis Hamilton has potential but will he live upto that potential? nobody knows that's the answer, I believe he has the ability to become the greatest of his generation but not the greatest of all time, F1 today is too different from the time of Senna, but arguably the best drivers of all time are those who drove at the limit in cars where if you crashed, you are almost certain to have career ending injuries or be killed. In relative terms, drivers these days have it easy, nothing like the racers of the 50s/60s!

Comparing Hamilton to Senna and Senna to Fangio is like comparing an Apple to a Brick and a Brick to a Plant!

By this logic Fangio/Clark>>Senna/Prost..Because Clark was in much more difficult Era than my favorite driver Senna...
I don't agree by this logic..Every era is different..But talent is always talent..In my eyes Senna is the GOAT(Greatest of all time) but someone else can say that Fangio is the GOAT or someone else that Schumacher is the GOAT..Forget about the Eras.
Senna is the greatest because he was the fastest of his era and perhaps the fastest ever(with Clark 2nd ever imo) and with not always the best car.He was also the rain-master..Remember 1993 Donington Park(my favorite race ever)...Do you remember that mister Prost :yuck: ?
But Hamilton is the heir of Senna...Look at his driving skills, his determination,he is the OverTake Master. Also he was great at rain.Monza 2008..And he isn't even at his prime...Senna is the Greatest ever but personally I give a small chance to Lewis to be the Greatest because he is damn good...By far the fastest driver today..With the same car he'll destroy anyone!
And Lewis reminds me Senna..Even Ayrton's sister said that...for a British ...

I disagree, I think its so different it requires different skill sets almost fundamentally. Senna was great in the cars he drove, if he was brought up in the 90s and raced against Shumacher, maybe Shumacher's grasp of the more modern f1 would've been better. (just using shooey as an example btw)

Also, I think Lewis has had some bad quali sessions this season hasn't he? In the races though, not sure he's made any notable mistakes though, and has driven some very good ones. It's hard to say how far he's out performing the car though, since Redbull and Ferrari have made numerous mistakes that Lewis has benefited from to give him his standing position. Not sure I can think of too many times, hes kept a faster car behind him this season?

Forget the points and look at the races..You can easily understand that Hamilton>>>Button..I'm a big fan of Senna/Hamilton and McLaren for years and Button is perhaps the most overrated world champion ever...With Jacques Villeneuve(respect to his father Gilles Villeneuve. He was one of the biggest talents ever) perhaps the 2 most overrated ever..

No, I know they weren't.

But he was saying that a car shouldn't break unless it goes against a wall..

I'm sorry but this is fraudulent quoting. When did I say this?

I'm pretty sure all the teams out there TARGET (caps to make it clearer) to finish races as FAST as possible (driver pushes the car as hard as he can to get a good result).

When McLaren state something like "Lewis broke the car" or "Lewis drove it too fast" I will be happy to wave the white flag.

I remember this "driver breaking the car" theory when Kimi's car kept breaking at McLaren. It was ridiculous then, and ridiculous now. Funny these theories only come up for McLaren don't you think? I support the team, but they don't build very durable F1 cars to be honest.

I read it and answered. Now you're trying to act clever because you don't have an answer. It's okay, I forgive you...I'm a generous guy.
