I think you forgot one crucial name off of that list (Schumacher :hehe: ), but it's a moot point because the answer to this is no one.

Schumacher is already a "Greatest ever candidate" driver.Senna and Schumacher are the 2 drivers with the most credit of all the greats.Fangio is underrated because of his era..

I can't see any of the current drivers matching Schumacher's record of seven world drivers titles; in my living memory, Ayrton Senna is the best driver, I don't think we will see a driver like him in F1 again. Too much political bullpoo for that to happen now, I can see Lewis winning three, maybe four world titles. But he has shown nothing like the raw pace and aggressiveness that Michael Schumacher showed in his best years, which lasted some 13 years, and I really can't stand Michael Schumacher!

Ok so I picked "none" because the question is which active driver has the potential to be the greatest ever. And I honestly don't think that any of them will ever be the greatest ever. I just don't think that any of them have a chance. Surely they will be remembered for being talented during their careers, but they can't compare to Senna et al.

In terms of results and talent I strongly believe Lewis is undisputed No.1. But he will never be remembered as the greatest ever due to the 'manufactured' aura surrounding him, the fact that he's got backing from a massive team since childhood.

If instead, he came from the slums and entered F1 in a Virgin racing and kept trumping his pay driver teammate, and then moved up to say Renault, and matched Kubica, and then moved to McLaren and then perform like how he's performing now I'm pretty sure he might have much more of a chance.

Good point but Lewis is from the slums his dad worked his a$$ off to support his son's love for racing
Just watch the old GP2 highlights...he made fools out of Nelson Piquet Jr., Timo Glock, Lucas Di Grassi, etc. Look what teams they are on now...

Why do you think he went to a top team in his rookie year? Why did McLaren scout and back Lewis since he was a young boy? Maybe McLaren knew Lewis would become one of the best drivers of all time

In terms of greatest ever...Each era was different. A great driver, no matter what era he is born into...will be great in his own right.

I'm a huge basketball fan and people always say Michael Jordan is the greatest of all time

Try asking that same question to my grand dad or my uncle...trust me it will not be Michael Jordan

More to do with the greatest of the current drivers, not best ever, but we can't judge Kubica till he gets into a consistent winning package. I think he would be electrify in a Ferrari. He is just as fast as Alonso but a lot more consistent. Having these two as team mates in a Ferrari vs Hammo in a Mclaren would give Bernie wet dreams I reckon. Vettel just needs to finish going through puberty first and then add him into the mix in a Red Bull. He really needs to get Massa as his team mate, cause Webber is ruining his 'next Schumi' reputation. Perhaps Seb should take Mark into the outback, "A dingo ate my teammate, yay!!!"

Agree with every word. I don't think Lewis was strictly from a slum environment mate, I think he was from an average household? True that his dad was 100% behind him and look at the result. My point was the fact that a top team snapped him up from Day 1 will cloud people's judgement into thinking he's had everything simply fall on his lap from the beginning.

Robert Kubica, or Kimi.

It's hard to say, look how young Vettel is, if he stays in redbull and they don't slump away, along with maturing as a race team (making clever calls, sorting the reliability problems) he might end up pretty high on all time lists.

The most obvious choices would be Lewis and Alonso.
