Yes and no. I think most had the K-Series Rover in them which is prone to HGF. However a lot of owners have taken advantage of HGF to stick an Audi or Honda engine in their Elise which makes them shockingly quick.

Friend of mine has one. Looks very nice in black. Not to mention the interior is very modern and nice.
