Making bars of home-made chocolate today. Yum :) Only problem is that you do end up eating an entire bar and the chocolate is incredibly rich which then makes you feel a bit :yuck: for the rest of the day.

Im trying to be good at the moment , but they sound very yummy!!

In what sense?

More culinary delights today in the form of Bakkwa (or bak kwah).

Image

I know it doesn't look particularly nice, but it's absolutely heavenly :cloud9: . For those of you who haven't tried it, it's a Chinese snack similar to jerky only it's slightly sweet and also tends to be quite bright red. I can't find it for love nor money in this country so have had to resort to making my own. Normally made with pork, it can also be made with beef (which I don't like much). If you like jerky, burgers or BBQ pork, you'll love bak kwah! I'm actually very pleased with my first attempt as it tastes fab!

The bakkwa recipe I used:

1kg pork (minced)
200g brown sugar
2tbsp light soya sauce
1tbsp fish sauce
1tsbp oyster sauce
1tsp sesame oil
1/3tsp 5-spice powder
1/2tsp white pepper
1tbsp rice wine
2tbsp water
Leave pork to marinade for 24 hours (or overnight).
Line a baking tray with foil and smooth the meat out to as thin as possible (about 2 mm if possible).
Put under the grill until cooked (you may want to drain the fat off mid-way through cooking). Should take about 10 minutes to cook all in. You are really meant to leave it out in the sun (away from flies) for a few days to dry out but I obviously don't have that luxury here so have to use a grill. :hehe:

Your pizza looks fine selcouth. So it's not round, it probably tasted great.
One time in a car forum I frequent, someone started a breakfast thread, having taken a pic of her breakfast at a restaurant. So later I started a dinner thread. All I did was put a pot roast in a pot and throw chopped veggies in it, let it simmer a while, took a pic, posted it, and all of a sudden everyone thinks I'm Wolfgang Puck!
