if we have all current teams in the breakaway then all that will change is the name of the series.

Yeh exacly tv companies will want in on that and they'll be able to get a better deal than with ecclestone so it will work well for everyone.

i wouldn't really be that bothered if the FIA still manged the safty aspect and upheald the rules, really just as long as they didn't have any invovment in deciding them.

The buck should stop with FOTA.

The breakaway wouldn't get all the current teams though, especially if it were to expect to go racing in 2010 (And it's a little late to start setting up an international racing series for next year at this stage).

it will get all the big teams with the biggest followers which means biggest fan base for TV money.

and yeah 2010 might be hard yet if some tracks around the world break their agreement with Bernie and sign with FOTA. they would just set up as normal. so not a big task.

I am sure that Bernie has a contract that says he gets each track on certain dates...but does he really have one that says the gets the track on these dates and the track must refuse to take any other event that Bernie does not approve of? I very much doubt it. I think if the new F1...lets call it....formula zero, wanted to race on tracks and didn't require the enormous amount of money that Bernie requires....I'll bet they could find dates on the current tracks that were open. Then again, maybe Bernie is smarter than I give him credit for....and has blocked such a move..but the tracks would be wholesale stupid to agree to allowing Bernie to regulate who they can and can not sell dates to.

I would, without question, watch Formula 0 running the same track every other week if it meant they were in the process of working out tracks for the following year. Formula 1 would not get a single view from me. I am sick to death of this Max and Bernie show..it gets worse every year and I'm over it. These two geezers are out of control. If the teams get together and form another series...I don't care if they are racing on Kart tracks...I will support them.

Just as some of the deals in F1 hinge on certain conditions being met, the Circuits have certain non-comptete clauses to prevent them from helping to weaken F1.

Also, there is more to getting a breakaway off the ground than hoping to get Circuit deals signed.

Jensonb i know you dont want a breakaway but stop acting like its near an impossible undertaking. Money talks, if FOTA want one they will make it happen.

I don't want to break any records here, but this is twice in one day that bud and I agree. Racetracks are not entities bound to the organization that use them...otherwise the FIA might as well just own the tracks. I find it very hard to believe the tracks would sign a non-compete contract with the FIA in so much as they will not allow weekends to competing organizations. If such a deal has been struck, I would like to see some sort of reference or source saying as much. Bernie would have to be a pretty far seeing, astute individual to have seen such a possibility coming and worm that into the contract with the track. Considering the expense involved in bringing F1 to a track, I think it would be a pretty stupid thing for a track to agree to.

Track owner: Let me get this straight, you want untold millions from me..whether fans show up or not for you to come here for one weekend a year....AND you want to have the right to tell me who I can or can not have on the track for the rest of the year?
Bernie: Uh...yup.
Track owner: Are you, by chance, high at the moment?
Bernie: Prescription medication, doctor approved....by my doctor...whose company I own.
Track owner: That doesn't answer the question...are you in control of your faculties?
Bernie: I control many facilities...do you by chance have a hot daughter interested in marrying an old, rich, short, ugly, jerkoff? It seems I've misplaced my wife....
Track owner: Uh...no. Listen....uh...I gotta go.

So do I, because the FiA is legally prevented from making commercial deals regarding Formula One by Europe and the fact they don't own the Commercial Rights.

F1 Group would not be so unwise as to leave their track deals free to be undermined by the GPWC, which was a threat (Not that long ago) to the Formula One Commerical Interests.

Is that an assumption on your part or do you have a source? While it can be assumed that F1 interests would do all they can to lock a track out of allowing a competing series to use said track, the track owners also have interests they would protect and I do not believe any business owner would allow an entity that used their track one weekend a year to dictate what the rest of the year could or could not bring in. That just makes no sense to me, but stranger things have happened. I will concede the point once a source has been shown that states such an agreement is common place with F1 racing venues.

Can you say that in a way that doesn't require the use of slashes every few words?
