Kimi Raikkonen surprised everyone during Saturday’s free practice session, as he finally topped the time sheets ahead of his Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa. Kimi, making his racing debut for the team, finished up almost half a second ahead of Massa, who fell back to fifth during the closing minutes of a session which began on a damp track.
Renault continued to show their pace, with Giancarlo Fisichella second fastest. New boy Lewis Hamilton continued to embarrass his two-times World Champion team-mate, Alonso, by setting the third fastest time in his McLaren.
Anthony Davidson set a phenomenal time in the Super Aguri to take fourth in a car only launched yesterday. Sato, his team-mate was three quarters of a seconds behind in ninth. Meanwhile Honda languished back in 15th and 17th positions.
