Campos struggle; Senna could be left out of 2010

Bruno Senna could be left without a 2010 drive as financial concerns intensified around his Campos Meta 1 team. The Brazilian signed for the team at the Abu Dhabi grand prix last season, but the team is apparently struggling to make ends meet at a crucial stage of its development.

As such Campos head of strategy Daniel Eisen confirmed the team would not make the first test in Valencia at the beginning of February, and that the start of the season would be the team’s first chance to give their car a run out.

“Bahrain is a test, it’s not a first race for us,” he is quoted as saying by Associated Press.

“The cars are very advanced, we have a driver under contract and our intention is to be in Bahrain for the first race.

“Everybody’s worried and that’s logical because the season is long and we’re the new ones. But first things first, we want to be there with the best of everything – especially the cars.”

Although he sounded optimistic, Eisen also confirmed his team were still looking for backing.

“It’s no secret that we’re negotiating with investors and sponsors, especially on an international scale. But everything is going according to plan.”
