The biggest F1 spender

Ferrari and Toyota are big spenders in the world of F1, but recently, McLaren have emerged as the biggest of the big spenders. According to Business F1 magazine, McLaren have an extra $46 million to spend in 2007, taking their overall budget up to nearly $500 million.

This massive leap – nearly a 10% increase – is probably due to the signing of World Champion Fernando Alonso, who has in turn attracted new sponsors such as Santander.

Toyota are thought to have a smaller budget this year whereas Honda are spending more. Renault still has less money to play with than most of the big spenders, including Ferrari and BMW Sauber.
