Teams scrap joint launch plans

The Formula One Teams’ Association (FOTA) has reportably scrapped plans for a common car launch ahead of the 2010 after encountering a number of problems.

The event was originally scheduled to take place at Valencia in late January, in a bid to curb spending.

However, the launch has  been hit with a number of issues during the organisation process  – most notably from the smaller teams who believed that such an event would divert media attention away from them and towards the front-runners.

According to Autosport, the concept will be re-evaluated by FOTA over the course of next season with a view to recreate the concept ahead of the 2011 season.
