Ralf Schumacher has denied that the back problem he suffered from at Bahrain testing last week his connected with the injury he sustained when he crashed at Indianapolis in 2004. After bouncing over a high kerb, Schumacher was forced to sit out a day’s running because he had pulled a muscle in his back.
Talking about the injury, Schumacher said, “Those things have nothing to do with each other. Everyone would have reacted the same way because the Bahrain incident was fairly severe – nearly 20g – and because of the seating position, the impact when straight to my back. I didn’t want to risk anything so close to the start of the season so I didn’t get straight back into the car.”
