New F1 game deal hits the rocks

A new Formula 1 game for the PS3 may be some time in coming with Sony Computer Entertainment and Bernie Ecclestone apparently locked in a stalemate over a new publishing deal.

SCE has previously held an exclusive publishing deal for F1 from 2003 to 2007 and was reportedly worth around $200 million. The last Formula One computer game published by Sony was based on the 2006 season. The two parties have now reached a deadlock with Ecclestone s company supposedly demanding more money for a new license than SCE are willing to pay.

With no agreement imminent, it appears that other big computer game publishers such as Ubisoft, EA and Codemasters may now be in the running to win a 5 year exclusive publishing deal.
