Imola permitted to host F1 testing

Imola, a race-track most noted for hosing the San Marino Grand Prix, has been awarded a 1T rating by the FIA. The rating means that the track is now permitted to host F1 testing sessions, however it is not yet able to host a Formula 1 race the track needs a 1 rating before it can host another F1 race.

There are several areas which appear to be in need of improvement the entrance to the pit-lane has been singled out by Ferrari test driver Andrea Bertolini as being dangerous, and several gravel traps are also thought to need some improving.

Despite being named the San Marino Grand Prix, the actual track is situated in the province of Bologna in Italy. The race is named for the nearby independent republic of San Marino which is too small to host the race themselves.
