Former double world champion Mika Hakkinen has said it may be possible for him to return to McLaren to test their car again in the future. Hakkinen is currently preparing himself for the DTM touring car series this year, and although there are no current takes about a test between himself and Ron Dennis, he is still hopeful of getting behing the wheel of the MP4-22 again.
“Dennis always keeps the door open,” Hakkinen explained. “I will probably test again but I do not know when or where. It will be necessary to wait.”
Hakkinen tested the McLaren car for one day in the winter at Barcelona. Hakkinen enjoyed the test and would have provided the team with some useful data. After his test, Hakkinen said, “Of course I would have preferred to have ended the day as the fastest driver. However, that would have been unrealistic.”
