Renault hold crisis meeting

Renault F1Enstone, a small village in England and headquarters of the Renault F1 team, will see the Renault team there in a crisis meeting later on this week. The meeting comes on the back of some poor results with the reigning constructors World Champions only fourth in the 2007 season so far.

With their golden boy Alonso defecting to McLaren, and drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Heikki Kovalainen failing to finish higher than fifth in any of the first three races, the pressure is on to find out why the team has slipped so far since last year.

It is believed that Team Principal Flavio Briatore has called the meeting to devise a recovery plan. It is reported that Briatore has already internally written off winning the championship. Instead, he wants to focus on clawing back the slow lap times of the cars in the remaining 14 races of the season – the Renault F1 car is currently lapping about1.5 seconds down per lap on the front runners.

The focus of the recovery will probably focus on the relationship between the new Bridgestone tyres and the R27 chassis. There may also be changes made to the wheel base, aerodynamic package, weight distribution and suspension.
