David Coulthard has been found guilty of causing injury to a passenger when he was involved in a crash in 1999. The court have ordered him to pay a 500 EUR (US $650) fine.
Coulthard hit a patch of wet road in the famous Monte Carlo tunnel whilst doing about 100-150 km/h, and subsequently crashed his Mercedes-Benz road car. His female passenger was not seriously hurt, and withdrew her complaint in 2002 after being paid off. However the court still found Coulthard guilty of ‘accidental injury’ in his absense.
