I don't know if anyone else noticed in the other thread where I mentioned that HRT are currently ahead in the standings, but in order for Virgin not to finish last and get the smallest payout, they need
two 14th place finishes or better to leapfrog HRT. Obviously a 13th would do it, but without attrition that's going to be difficult. This could leave Virgin in a position of having to accept a pay driver over someone who might actually turn out, y'know...decent.
And they policy of doing development with CFD only it seems they may be the only ones staying back. News about them very quiet indeed.
I don't agree. Their CFD-only approach has worked out reasonably well, when you consider that they're close to the pace of the Lotus car and have out-qualified them in some events. Obviously, next year will be the real test, but for a first year that was a huge gamble and I think it turned out quite well. I like it when designers and engineers are adventurous, which is why I have such respect for Newey. Always pushing the envelope.
