He could prove he's fit by driving the first session on Friday. The driver that participates in free practice doesn't have to be the one that qualifies. They would still have Schumacher as an option if Massa was deemed unfit after said session.

Testing is banned until January, I believe.
When they were coming up with that rule, did they forget that following the winter testing is some of the only F1-related fun us F1 fans have in the winter months? What happened to them thinking about us?
