My lovely dog of 10+ years had to be put to sleep yesterday morning :(She was such a lovely girl, I grew up with her and its so wierd not having her around. She was nearly 13 so she had done so well, but yesterday morning her back legs had gone, so we phoned the vet and had her put to sleep at home, myself and mum were there with her. She looked so relaxed, she wasnt scared, I think she knew what was going to happen. Me and my mum were in bits but she looked so ease, even when the vet gave her in the injection she just sat there. The vet gave her half the dosage to begin with as he vein in her foreleg was weak, but she nodded off to sleep and as she was dozing the vet gave her the rest of her dosage in her back leg.She looked so peaceful, she was lying there, eyes still open but she was gone. I gave her a massive hug and managed to cry all over her but yeah my little angel. We are having her cremated, so she should be back in a week where we shall scatter her ashes in the woods :)She was my first dog, you never forget your animals and I esp wont forget her:(

Miss her :(

Sorry for your loss, I grew with a german shepherd too and was difficult to overcome when he passed. Never wanted to have another.

Sad news. She looked a lovely dog. You're not having it easy with pets at the moment, Hannah.

Thanks guys still cant believe shes gone :( Miss my labby so so much, its strange not having her here, Ive never lost a dog before and I tell you, its really hard and knowing I will ever see her for a long long time makes it that much more depressing.
My face was hurting all day yesterday  because I'd been crying so much
Only lost Jasper a few weeks ago, and Basil back in April so yeah great year for me :(

Sorry for your family's loss Hannah she was a beautiful dog. She has endless treat's and chew toy's now though right? :cloud9:

I hope this is ok with you that I include our loss today within your thread? We had to putdown Ms.Misty this morning after 15yr's with us and she was already atleast 3yr's old when we adopted her after her owner's, dear friend's of our family, passed away.

A pic of the house 'Mistress'.

RIP Ms.Misty :(

Sory Han. Sad news. :( Its exactly what happened to my dog Rosco. He was a Samoyed and gorgeous but like your dog his back legs went and he had to be put to sleep. That was a few years ago now. I guess we have to remember the good times and that they were lucky dogs to have had a good life.
