Perhaps it was overuse, who knows. Anyway, yesterday after another pounding, it turned itself off and didn't want to play ball after that.
Anyway, I phoned the helpline (on a Sunday which was refreshing) and have a brand new 60gb PS3 turning up on Tuesday - now that's what I call service!
Had it been a Xbox, I would have had to send it away for weeks - and someone I know even had theirs lost by Microsoft!!
Still a big thumbs up for PS3 - Sony seem very dedicated to its development and customer service.
