According to Australian telly, Ricciardo is set to replace Karthikeyan in a loan deal from the British Grand Prix onwards.

Neither have confrimed the rumour, although it does seem strange........

Would you want to start off in a car that bad? It's not even like the Minardi days where you could luck in to points because of the fantastic reliability. That being said, it shouldn't be hard to out-perform Karthikeyan and Liuzzi. :hehe:

Actually not such a bad idea. I actually think Liuzzi isn't a bad steerer. Putting Ricciardo against him will be a decent gauge of relative speed. The car is that slow that expectations will be non existent so to speak, except to outpace Liuzzi by seasons end. It also gives him race experience which is most important. Having to try setup and drive a car like that can only help develop his technical learning curve, and is an opportunity to drive a different car and compare with the STR.

He is no doubt the next anointed Red Bull 'school' star, so it is a free education in F1. No doubt some much needed cash ( no doubt it was a cheap deal) goes HRT's way, and they a recognized talent, not just a chopper that comes along with bags of gold.....

It would be okay If RBR/STR want to prep him up at HRT before he drives for STR in 2012. I would think red bull would pay a good amount to Hispania if they let Ricciardo drive one of there cars.

Also with Algeys peformance at Valancia, he has cemented he drive for a bit longer for this year. Not sure what STR would do if both there drivers are equal in performance at the end of the season but I still think 1 driver has to make way for Ricciardo in 2012, RBR/STR must get this guy racing next year.

Key word LOAN... Better be correct! :hehe: I wouldn't always trust Australian F1 news, hell they can't even pronounce the guys name right? Riccardo is how they say it!

Seems a bit strange given that Tata back Karthikeyan and HRT are pretty light on sponsors. I wonder if Red Bull branding will appear on HRT from now on?

What I can see happening is Ricciardo ending up at Torro Rosso next year to gain a bit more experience then will jump to Red Bull, assuming he is good enough, for 2013. Just in time for Webber calling it a day.

So how would YOU pronounce it then?
The correct Italian way would be "ritchiardo".

To avoid making a new thread, according to ScarbsF1, Colin Kolles will be leaving HRT and heading for Williams. So, this looks like HRT are trying to make positive changes and I think Kolles will be a good help to Williams. Hopefully their recent technical signings will work out, too. :)

I think this is super-interesting as Liuzzi is a former Red Bull Driver as well. If this does indeed translate into another Red Bull feeder, I think that they will try and put them on an equal playing field as Toro Rosso, with the same finances. Bring in some young designers into either team and then they can try and find the next Adrian Newey!

Vergne to HRT next year then? :wavey:

I was thinking this as well. Maybe there will be a breakaway...when Redbull are influencing decisions of more than 50% of the grid, the rest can leave and F1 can be renamed Formula RedBull. And who knows, maybe when Vettel retires he can be F-RB President you heard it here first.
