Generalising Hamilton fans, thats very bipartisan of you.

I'm not generalising anyone at all! It is true that there are some fans of his who are as I described and I have experienced these lost souls. However, I know there are some more reasonably minded Hamiltonians out there who will not resort to childish personnal attacks when anyone dares to say anything slightly against Hamilton.

one of the attractions of F1 is that it is a constructor based series instead of a one make race style series. The good drivers tend to end up at the top teams, so you shouldn't take anything away from Seb just because he is in the fastest car right now. He did win in a Torro Rosso after all.

as there are Ferrari fans, Schumi fans, Alonso fans.. and so on and so on.

We have had many a Spaniard sign up to this forum and all they do is bag Hamilton. I am sure there are Spanish fans out there who are not so one eyed Alonso fans and hold no grudge still to this day from the 2007 season, that feel the need to sign up to an English speaking site to bad mouth Lewis.

BUd take a look at any youtube video of Hamilton driving/overtaking/crashing/winning/losing....there are always a few of those maggots who sign up on youtube just for that purpose.

I know, I would be more critical of these so called fans than Hamilton fans.

You could apply that to virtually any youtube video. Or even any mass internet commenting system.

I'm not amazed at all that when anyone offers any criticism of Hamilton his fans rush to his defence in droves. I expected nothing less than what happened, insults, and personal attacks. Even in a thread devoted to Vettel.

You should have seen the site I just gave up on a couple weeks ago, this place is tame so far! Over the past couple months there has been a massive infestation of Hamiltonians. Context, truth, fact and reasoned debate and discussion have all suffered to the point that if you dare to say anything slightly negative towards our Lord God and Saviour (Hamiton) you are branded as a right wing Nazi and told to go join the KKK. Sad thing is I'm hardly exaggerating.

Now here's the really funny or tragic (depends on your humour) part. The very same people are more than happy to stick the boot into other drivers and do exactly the same things that they berate others about. On the whole Hamiltonians seem to be very thin skinned overly defensive hypocrites with persecution complexes.

Hey, we saw those very dynamics happen. This is supposed to be a Vettel thread, yet the moment I said anything negative about Mr Hamilton (and it was just a couple of lines), well, just look back and observe how many card-carrying members of the Hamilton fan club descended into this thread and hurled innuendo and insults. I didn't see any valid counter-arguments, just challenges to my mental state.

But in all fairness, there are many fine people who do respect others and conduct themselves with dignity and grace, and are counted as fans of Hamilton. Sadly, it also appears that for every one of them, there are ten who have no boundaries in insolence, disrespect, and just plain rudeness. I've seen every form of disrespect from calling Webber "a useless old man" to stating that Senna was one-dimensional. They expect everyone to tread carefully and be gentle when discussing their hero, yet have no problem being completely abusive towards others. Ever since I came into this forum I've carefully gone overboard to try to respect the opinions and feeling of all Hamilton fans. But just a simple comment brings the walls down, children wake up in the middle of night crying, cows refuse to give milk, chickens don't lay eggs, and Big Ben refuses to give time until this horrible miscariage of justice is undone.

I do want Hamilton to win again, and the sooner the better. It's a horrible buzz-kill when you know that since Hamilton had another bad weekend, that the forums would be rife with unhappy Hamilton fans clogging everything up with their comments and excuses. It's like mosquitoes at the cottage, if they just weren't there it would be perfect....

well when you think about it Hamilton probably is the most popular driver at the moment whether you like it or not, in an English speaking forum especially. So of course you're going to get more of the good and the bad. I would say it was the same in the Schumi hey day!

I am quite sure if you happened to learn (if you dont already know it) Spanish and join a Spanish F1 forum the same of what you said could be made of Alonso fans.

English speaking does not equate to the world.

If you dont like it you can always f*** off to the Vettel forum.

Getting a bit sick of nonce's always playing the ooh yeah i know theres some alright Hamilton fans but the majority treat him like god.

In the words of MIllwall football club; " NOBODY LIKES US, BUT WE DONT CARE!"

Shove your Hamilton hate up your arse.

2009th post, that ones for you Jensy

Why did you feel the need to mention a negative about Hamilton in your own words " A Vettel thread", kind of your fault isnt it.

By the way unless your a saint in the rest of your life, your probably going to hell for speaking ill of God Hamilton.

We all know Bernie must have suffered a mild stroke from lack of oxygen while being pinned down "wrestling" with his amazaon wife or ex wife or whatever. So we should create a Bernie Says.... thread since Bernie Says a lot of things, some of which seem insightful some of which seem senile.

So let's answer the OP question and the answer is yes, he's one of the best drivers on the grid, and leave it at that. Be cognizant that what you write will be used against you if it 1, is a contradictory argument to something you've previously said, or 2, if it has no foundation in facts. Post your opinion and move on.

This thread has outlived its freshness date and will be thrown quickly if it degenerates any further.

You realize you are complaining that some Hamilton fanboys are just completely over the top protective and very narrowminded about their favourite driver and yet you are basically exactly the same way when it comes to Vettel right?

Its the same with Andrew all i ever see from him currently on these forums is an extremely biased view on how great Vettel is and how bad Hamilton is and yet when a Hamilton fan reflects those views than its apparently over the top and unacceptable.

Seriously the only thing wrong with Vettel is his fans (not all his fans mind you).

I don't personally think he is the best driver on the grid but i do think he is the most likeable driver on the grid, extremely talented and could quite easily be the most successful and greatest driver in F1 history if he continues to improve and i would be happy to see that happen, but quite frankly at present he hasn't shown anything that would make me rate him above any other driver especially to the extend some of his fans have done.

This isn't aimed as a personal insult to anyone even if it may look that way i just think some of Vettels fans seriously need to step back and look at their own posts and realize they aren't exactly the most neutrally objective people to ever grace this forum.

I think we are exagerating quite a bit. My view is no more biased than the next person, I just don't go in for idolising anyone or anything. I call thing how I see them, simple as that. As your last line says, this isn't meant to be a personnal attack yet my name is mentioned which makes it personnal I guess. I take the view of live and let live, but keep things in perspective.

Anyway back to the topic:

MrE's job is to stir up attention for F1. Comments like this about Vettel being the best on the grid (apart from being true :hehe: ) do exactly just that. The F1 ringmaster has succeeded in his task.
