I'm not amazed at all that when anyone offers any criticism of Hamilton his fans rush to his defence in droves. I expected nothing less than what happened, insults, and personal attacks. Even in a thread devoted to Vettel.
You should have seen the site I just gave up on a couple weeks ago, this place is tame so far! Over the past couple months there has been a massive infestation of Hamiltonians. Context, truth, fact and reasoned debate and discussion have all suffered to the point that if you dare to say anything slightly negative towards our Lord God and Saviour (Hamiton) you are branded as a right wing Nazi and told to go join the KKK. Sad thing is I'm hardly exaggerating.
Now here's the really funny or tragic (depends on your humour) part. The very same people are more than happy to stick the boot into other drivers and do exactly the same things that they berate others about. On the whole Hamiltonians seem to be very thin skinned overly defensive hypocrites with persecution complexes.
Hey, we saw those very dynamics happen. This is supposed to be a Vettel thread, yet the moment I said anything negative about Mr Hamilton (and it was just a couple of lines), well, just look back and observe how many card-carrying members of the Hamilton fan club descended into this thread and hurled innuendo and insults. I didn't see any valid counter-arguments, just challenges to my mental state.
But in all fairness, there are many fine people who do respect others and conduct themselves with dignity and grace, and are counted as fans of Hamilton. Sadly, it also appears that for every one of them, there are ten who have no boundaries in insolence, disrespect, and just plain rudeness. I've seen every form of disrespect from calling Webber "a useless old man" to stating that Senna was one-dimensional. They expect everyone to tread carefully and be gentle when discussing their hero, yet have no problem being completely abusive towards others. Ever since I came into this forum I've carefully gone overboard to try to respect the opinions and feeling of all Hamilton fans. But just a simple comment brings the walls down, children wake up in the middle of night crying, cows refuse to give milk, chickens don't lay eggs, and Big Ben refuses to give time until this horrible miscariage of justice is undone.
I do want Hamilton to win again, and the sooner the better. It's a horrible buzz-kill when you know that since Hamilton had another bad weekend, that the forums would be rife with unhappy Hamilton fans clogging everything up with their comments and excuses. It's like mosquitoes at the cottage, if they just weren't there it would be perfect....
