Texas it was a joke .....

I understand now RD although you as well as I KNOW how joke's can be taken, it's all about the percerpted intent/meaning of said 'joke'. I'm just hoping to ward off potential war's between us all as we know 'perception is reality' on the internet. Heck I'm looking out for you in the sense I dont want you to get 'carpal tunnel syndrom' from having to reply :lol::wink: .

It's so refreshing to see intelligent discussion back on this board instead of "You Spanish B@stard" and "You English piece of sh!t"...

Thank you onelapdown and DD...

You're welcome demure - and if you contributed more of your insightful posts, I'm sure the average discussion level and quality would get a nice boost :)

dont you start you aussie twat!

Normal service has been resumed...

I can see where MacFan's comingfrom, in that Brawn, Byrne and Schu were the main factors in Ferrari's development into a proper front-running team again, but in the same way Barnard and Lauda were instrumental in turning McLaren from a team that was little better than an also-ran into the dominant team of the 80s. In both cases it boils down to the man making the decisions making the RIGHT decisions.

Well put!

Sorry RD and you are correct the '' was overlooked on my part as I only focused on the 'twat' reply. I think that's due to our difference in it's perception and it's context in which it was used. I'll just be quite now , sorry.

Dennis had to secure and manage the finances etc. for the team. At Ferrari, FIAT, Luca di Montezemolo, et al. looked after all of those affairs, not Todt. Dennis is twice the team manager Todt is.

"In 1980 due to poor performance by McLaren John Hogan, a Philip Morris executive, forced McLaren chairman Teddy Mayer to accept a merger with Dennis' Project Four. This was in effect a reverse takeover with the Formula One constructor becoming McLaren International.[5] This ultimately placed the thirty-four year old in full control of the merged teams."

I'd say dinner was served on a nice platter.

No, it wasn't. Clearly you know nothing about the efforts Dennis had to go to get the carbon fibre for the cars, the dealings with TAG, and the subsequent running of McLaren International.

I am not getting your point DD

And just a suggestion - If anyone quotes from a source maybe it would be good form to acknowledge this and state where the plagiarism is from. Maybe good form to credit authors for their work.

Also quoting the Times has more credence that the News of the World and quoting Wikipedia has much less than say autosport.com.

I will make a post on this in the suggestions section.

You're right RD, pure laziness on my part. At least I made the effort to quote in quotation marks rather than just claiming things out of thin air.

Well, the level of discussion on this board has never struck me as of academic quality (especially as of late) and I really don't see a need to start referencing everything we post, but yeah, I'll be keeping an eye on myself with re. to that.
