No he didn't, the tire that hit Surtees was from a car that had recently gone off the track and violently slammed into a wall ripping off the left rear tire along with the wing and some of the rear suspension, they didn't drive around the track with a loose wheel after a pit stop. What happened to Surtees was the result of a crash, not the result of a careless pit stop, the two instances should not be compared.

It deserves a penalty! Even though I would not give one for it as crap like that has happened in F1 before and the Stewards did nothing about it but it arguably deserves a penalty.

Banning Renault from the next race though is totally over the top. A heavy fine, a suspended race ban and a general slap on wrist is all that's needed.

I'd hope the FIA can rethink how to punish Renault...

maybe make a suspended sentence like for Mclaren this year.... or just make them score no constructor points for the rest of year?
I think it might be better for Spanish fans in Valencia...


or better yet...

FIA should just say they would want to delay the verdict on the appeal, and let Renault race in Valencia, THEN give them the punishment after Valencia... i think that sounds the best

or like i mentioned, a delayed appeal hearing...which allows renault to race in valencia, then decide if they should be banned from one race...

Yeah but if they were allowed to race in that, it would again look like they were being inconsistent with penaltys and some would claim Renault have a better chance of scoring there etc.

How about just fining them, and adding 5 seconds to each pit stop, enforced by fia officials, on the floor.
