I stii think they have to declare fuel, but the fuel they declare does not have to be in the tank during the q3 session.


defeats the object then.....


The point is that it keeps an element of strategy and tactics to the racing, but also allows the public to see who the fastest man really is.

does it make any difference if you decide your fuel load after qualifying or just before the race???

No, because they're the same thing.

I think you might be missing the point here. Under the current system, we don't get to see who the outright fastest driver is in qualifying, rather who has the lightest car. By disposing of the whole fuel credit idea altogether, we would be able to see who is actually the fastest driver on a particular weekend, which is what the majority of people would like to see.
