correct... the stewards should look at the situation and just simply decide which of the two should be classified ahead... there was no ill intent from either side... no penalty needed...
I wonder if Toyota's appeal would go through, then. I doubt it, because of the rules on appealing drive-throughs, but it would be nice if it did. Jarno very much deserved that third-place finish.
They should have a strong case. Here's hoping.
They should clarify their rules then this nonsense wouldn't happen! They should have just switched him to 4th not penalised him right out of the points.
Their rules are not to pass a car under safety car or yellow flag conditions. However, if the stewards imposed the penalty without consulting both sides, then they weren't to know that McLaren told Lewis to let Jarno through. Jarno should not have been penalised at all if this is the case.
