This is just annoying me so much. The fans said they wanted wins to be rewarded more, not to be the be all and end all of winning a WDC.

If you simply must crown the so-called "winningest" driver, why not do so with a separate Trophy? Name it in honour of one of the Greats with no WDC or something.

That is a really good idea, but good seem just like a remedial trophy, like Carling Cup in UKFootball.
Nobody cares.

Why the decision so late in the day? just days from the start of the season, its as thogh they expected a furoar so they left it so late that there was no time left to change it.
The biggest worry for me is the control it gives to the FIA to meddle further in the result of the championship.

Yeah, it really strikes me as suspicious that the scoring changes didn't come up until the last minute - it's fairly essential.

not a "medal" system, more a "meddle" system.

dont like the way theyve been changing the rules every year since a few years back when they changed the points and qualifying. before then they would never change anything, as soon as they did its let them change it whenever they want.

I actually like the new system but hey I am not nor will I ever be a conformist. Considering the actions of the FIA over the last years I expect this system to be changed for next season but not mid-season as that would totally fawk a few teams.

Point of order, but aren't the idiots who forced this change through in the interests of "making the winner the one with the most wins" the same people who forced through the old 10-8-6... system for diametrically opposed reasons just 6 years ago, when someone was dominating, winning the season bfore halfway on the back of high win percentage and they wanted to stop it from happening in the future? Now they tell us that's how it ought to be?

This idea absolutely stinks. It is a knee-jerk, reactionary load of trash dreamed up by Ecclestone. You cannot have it both ways. Ecclestone got fed up with Schumacher and Ferrari winning everything, so he wanted to extend the length of the title battle by introducing the 10-8 etc. system. Now, when he gets lengthy title battles, he changes back to the old system! Moreover, let's just hypothetically say Ecclestone is correct, if a driver was now inspired to overtake and made contact with another driver's car, the stewards would become involved and do the guy who tried to overtake for causing an avoidable collision or something.
