you also have to consider that if the title is wrapped up far to early the courses holding the events will lose out on revenue as how many people will decide not to go.
we have already lost Canada for that very reason and france (although that was no big loss) Germany alternate the course each season to spread the loss and silverstone is going as they didnt have the funds to tart the place up.

how many of the courses later on in the season will be able to carry empty stands if the title is won in late august or even ealier..ABU DHABI seem the only one that will be ok as they have funds in abundance but can the others

Fernando Alonso
"I don't understand the need to change the rules of the sport constantly. I think this kind of decisions can only confuse the fans," Alonso said in a statement on his personal website.

"Formula 1 has existed for over 50 years thanks to the teams, the sponsors, the drivers and, above all, the fans from all over the world, and none of them have been able to express their views in front of the FIA.

"I worry, not so much about the decisions that affect the season that's about to start, but, above all, those that affect the future of the competition in the coming years.

"I hope somehow these measures can be reconsidered in the short-term."

The 2 time champ has spoke, and he could not have said it better.

This is just annoying me so much. The fans said they wanted wins to be rewarded more, not to be the be all and end all of winning a WDC.

If you simply must crown the so-called "winningest" driver, why not do so with a separate Trophy? Name it in honour of one of the Greats with no WDC or something.

Thats the Indy 500 trophy. The IRL trophies are the same size as F1 trophies.

I can't believe people think the drivers need more of an 'incentive' to go for the win at all costs. Look at Raikkonen and Hamilton at Spa FFS!

The more i think about this decision the more i dislike it.With so many flawes already pointed out on this forum, i am bewildered as to how the FIA board cannot see at least some of these.

I was very much looking forward to this season with BBC coverage (no adverts). Also the rules on reduced downforce and slick tyres would of significantly addressed the issue of overtaking i believe.
As pointed out in an earlier post the desire to overtake and win is a compulsory part of being a racing driver and should never be questioned!
So why have the FIA done this when the sport was in such good shape? :banghead:

Too easy way out of misery for them. Have them suffer a long agonizing death - I'm talking months. Start with their finger- and toenails and their teeth (the few they still have) - pull them out one a day. Use a microtome and chop off a mm-slice of their d!cks every day. Pull their skin starting at their waist about one cm a day and at the end let them suffocate in their own skin tied together above their head. :whip::director::twisted:

Surely this season will create much more ill ideas and ways of winning.
Imagine Schumi adopting win at all costs here.

I was looking forward to this season, but alot lot less now.

I agree with what your saying about the fact if its a close season between one or two teams then it will be same and in Brazil Lewis would of had to go for the win - Fine would of made it really exciting.

Not as exciting at watching him nearly lose the title in 5th place.

It's pointless to do anything else anyway as the decision has been made; the new system is here like it or not. So we have two choices - either we bitch and moan about it, or we sit back and enjoy the racing for what it is. This argument can then be taken up again in November...

I know which option I'll be taking...

Bitch and moan.
You and me both mate.

With this a driver could come in half way through the season and win the championship.
