what a bullpoo decision.

ill say it again the drivers WERE going for race wins last year, as they WERE every year! for example Spa.. Lewis could have just sat back and took 2nd but no he fought it out for the win with Kimi. on the other hand Massa sat back did nothing and ends up getting the win by default! oh but in this system Massa would be champion.... :banghead:

First of all Lewis's actions in Spa are to be commended. But what about his actions in Brazil? Not once during the entire weekend did he push to win the race he only needed 5th and that is what he went for. I think that we can put down Lewis's pushing to win in Spa down to youthful exuberance and I don't think that we will be seeing it again after his experience in Fuji last year.

This change forces drivers to go for wins and not play it safe and score points.

True and i agree but the engine had just failed in Japan for Hekki and Mclaren were worried about Lewis so i think that was a team decison rather than race ortinated one.

Eitherway this is a bad idea.

As i have said you could get sutil luck out and win 2 races then score no other points for the entire year as long as no one else wins two races he will be the champ

With the way the engine regs are now are they going to use their engines conservatively at some tracks where they know their cars won't be as well suited and a win is unlikely anyway so they can turn them up at tracks where they think they've got a better chance?

I agree with you, hence my earlier post stating that this will only work if the 09 cars equalise the cars enough to allow overtaking. I doubt that they will so now after review I think that this is a bad idea. But usually 90% of the stuff that comes out of the FIA is bad

Well all I can say to this is BULLSH!T!!

Once again the FIA just love crapping up the sport for their pleasure and not the fans. :banghead:

This is a complete disgrace. 12-9-7-5-4-3-2-1 was a much more sensible option. This devalues everyone who is not in 1st or second in a race.

Not impressed.

What is a poop idea

If a driver enters 3 races in a year and wins them all. but another driver does all the races and comes in second for every race of the season apart from where he wins 2 races. then The driver who entered 3 races has won the championship!!!!

Are we gonna end up with crazy driving of Win or crash?

Pretty much. It's a totally unfair system and a wholly inadequate way of finding the season's best driver.

yeah but say massa wins 6races and hamilton 4, but hamilton comes second more times than massa, then i dont think its fear that hamilton wins, its actually not going to make that much diffrence as other than last year it wouldnt have made a diffrence again unitl 1989

I dothink it's fair, as Hamilton in that scenario would have been more consistently quick than Massa

This is just stupid. What will they do next? Have compulsory toilet breaks during the race with minimum weights of solid and liquid waste to be excreted?

Oh, I know what will be next. With the current system, the championship will be won some season soon far too early. So the FIA will bring in a rule saying that the driver with the most wins has to sit out races until his lead is equalled.

Just think of the motivation for a 2nd place driver unable to pass to punt the leading driver. Nothing to lose.

Brawn GP fans should be happy they could have the title by July!

I think the things are much harder for them now..

Luckily Brawn GP's fans are sensible enough to put that aside and see that it's a terrible and wholly unfair idea.
