also its worth noting Ron said - everythings ok then Martin Said - Were off the pace.

could they be just confusing people and calling a double bluff

I really hope they are, but what would be the point? None of the big teams are going to write them off, and either way, its just dangerous not to test the car to its full potential. By double bluffing, do they think that Ferrari are not going to develop the car further - seeing as McLaren don't seem to be competitive? No, of course they aren't.

If they are double bluffing, its just plain stupidity. There are absolutely no positives to it at all. Sandbagging in general is just rubbish. It would probably be better if they showed there full pace - just to put "fear" into the other teams (ala BRAWN GP. I'm loving how everyone is like "oh no, no we can't reach that pace" :))

Yeh but Ferrrai are bricking it about Mechanical Failures i'm thinking less cooling hot races?

See what happens next week but i hope to see them setting faster times.

Gawd, please no. Don't make me relive Hungary 08 all over again. I was bummed out for about 2 weeks about that one.

Dommencali actually stated they were working on reliability. It better show. They have engine trouble at Australia constantly. 4 ferrari engines went last year. Thats clearly a probelm. It's always the hot tempertures that the ferrari engines struggle with. They went at Valencia and Hungary as well, both extremely warm races. Kinda stupid that Ferrari's tyres work better in warm tempertures then.

Yeh i don't think they are its just abit weird that Ron said "everythings ok" the Martin goes "were off pace" and now Norbert has obv been reading this fourm because hes said "2 races before were winning" which is what everyone is saying.

Thats not too bad tho gonna be a long season and the Merc engine is very very relaible so we can perhaps afford to drop a few races?

On the sandbagging subject didn't BMW do alot of it last year? and suprised everyone by in Quali in OZ

Yes, and they're doing much of the same this year. Everybody (notably James Allen) has noticed that BMW Sauber are only doing longer runs and not the short qualifying simulations that a lot of other teams have been trying. Last winter, they sent their cars out constantly tanked-up with fuel. However, the car didn't start this winter off on the back-foot, so their pace in Australia should be good and, crucially, it should carry on being good throughout the season. I really do hope that they, Ferrari and Toyota are all on the same level. It will make an interesting change.

:rofl::rofl: GRIFF YOUR AVATAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will it come down to drivers, can Glock and Trulli win the title... in comparison to say Massa and Raikkonen or Heidfeld and Kubica?

So many possibilities - such excitement!

I'd definitely say that, if those three cars were evenly matched, then all six of those would have the potential to fight for the title. Trulli might struggle, though, seeing as he's more prone to off-days. Raikkonen could have that trouble, too.

I think McLaren are going to struggle this season, they just don't seem fast enough, that goes for Renault as well. My money would be on Ferrari.

That said McLaren & Renault could turn it all around with more updates/modifications to their cars.

I'm surprised that McLaren is in the position it appears to be. If they're ruling out race wins, then that looks pretty serious. In the beginning of the season, a slow (but not too slow) car is better than a fast but potentially unreliable one (as in Ferrari). But over the season. starting fast but unreliable might just be the best option. As reliability problems can be fixed. But general speed is typically more difficult to fix.

It seems the more pre-season testing and information we get, the less we seem to know about what's likely to happen. I'm starting to think that the first race may be entirely unpredictable and include all sorts of surprises. But I still expect things to return to "business as usual" through the year.

Well, to be honest, the MP4-24's reliability has not exactly been bullet-proof either. :P:blush::(

Can anyone offer a good explaination as to how McLaren managed to make such a huge mistake, despite having the best facilities of any team? Was their simulator incorrectly configured or something?
