William Hill have suspended betting on the outcome of the Formula One world championship after FIA, the sport’s governing body, announced yesterday that McLaren is being investigated for a possible breach of the rules at the Monaco Grand Prix.
Paddy Power is refunding all losing single bets on Hamilton to win the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday. Hamilton was the best backed driver in the race with more than 600 punters placing almost £50,000 on the Englishman with Paddy Power both before and betting in running during the race.

I remember at least once this year Hamilton held up the pack to give Alonso the lead... I'm not sure when it was but I can look it up if it makes you happy...

As I said to you many times already, they all say they don't use them to win votes with the public but within the teams there is a very clear number 1 and 2 driver...

If this is true, then I've been misled all these years now over McLaren's "We dont believe in team orders" phillosophy. Ron's now jumping on the bandwagon after seeing what making Schumacher the number 1 driver did!! Hamilton should disobey team orders next time Ron tries his crap. If he gets the sack as a result, there's a nice seat somewhere in a blue and white car built in Grove that Lewis could get his own back on Ron in.

you know its funny you claim that when Alonso beats lewis it is due to team orders, yet when Lewis beats Alonso then the story is lewis is being favoured for being british. which driver will mclaren favour the most then? different stories after each race. F1 gossips are a bunch of fags!

if Mclaren had team orders to favour Alonso they would have tried to get Alonso infront of Hamilton in Spain.

To be fair bud there has been no mention from me about team orders in any other race apart from Monaco. And IF it is found that there were team orders, then its not good for the sport at all. Just remember there is no smoke without fire . . . . usually

There are team orders and team orders. Telling one driver to slow and let himself be overtaken by another is one thing. Asking your drivers not to take each other out is another. That has always been Mc Laren's philosophy, and I believe Ron Dennis was right to tell Lewis H to hold station last Sunday because had he not done so, Macca would have risked giving Ferrari yet another win on a plate. And I don't think any of us want that, do we? Or do we !

I have been following F1 closely for close on 45 years. I remember the days when drivers were asked to come in and hand their cars over to the number 1 driver. Nobody complained then.

I don't really have any problem whatsoever with team orders. Hell, Ferrari did it so bluntly so often, but I have no problem with that.

So why the problem now, especially when no race positions were changed.

But what gets me most is the 2 faced attitude of Ferrari fans who are complaining about Macca giving team orders. Remember the old thing from the bible about "Let the man without sin throw the first stone" or words to that effect.

I am not a Macca fan. My team at the mo is Williams, and before that Jordan. I just hate 2 faced wimps.

i think one reason why Ron told Lewis and Fernando to hold places could be because he still has nightmares about Senna whacking his McLaren into the armco in 1988 when under pressure from Prost when McLaren had walked the race (which was almost standard procedure throughout that year).

Mc Laren aren't bringing F1 to disrepute, but Ferrari certainly are by ignoring Euro antismoking advertising rules.

But Max won't do anything about that. One rule for the red cars and another for the rest.

I'm with you jb. The only way LH could have passed a car in Monaco is in the pits. Any attempt on the track would have been a disaster. Alonso said it best. 'even a car with .5 second advantage could not overtake another car on the track'. But bringing in LH several laps before he needed to was not cool. Not a crime but definitely an issue. It shows LH was faster using fuel adjusted analysis. The FIA is being silly again. If it had been a red car this would not have come up.

I'd have to agree with you there. I wonder if this 'investigation' came after other team principles complained?

This is a ridiculous statement and you know it: Firstly, they wouldn't have done it BECAUSE of MS/RB that led to the rule. Secondly, they are constantly under scrutiny by other teams, so it would have come up if there was even the slightest shadow of doubt. Now that we will have a ruling, it remains to be seen what effect it will have on F1 and especially Ferrari. They are the most likely team to have to make decisions in that regard apart from McLaren. That's why I said earlier that the FIA has to walk a fine line in this case because they will set a precedence either way.
