I'm not saying anything about how much action is needed, I'm just pointing out that your pronouncemnts about the word "greener" are plain silly. The word greener exists, and has a commonly agreed meaning. And "greener" can be applied to things that aren't talk, but which are actions, which have quantifiable benefit. That's the point under discussion. Your claims that activities etc. are either 100% green or not green at all is just plain stupid. And it's nothing to do with what benefits the world the most. The word "greener" does exist, and is frequently used by a good proportion of people from a wide variety of backgrounds and motivations.

Except that you were an active participant in the thread where this information about me was originally posted and discussed, including you posting not too many posts after I did. Which I just checked before posting this. So I strongly doubt your claims that you "just found out". And as for this "audience" bit, it was you who, without invitation, started sending me PMs discussing things such as you believing that I "need to get laid". So it seems rather strange that you would consider me self-obsessed, when I'm reacting to your seeming obsession with my s e x life.

Greener is the modern fad that all forms of $$ business $$ use to help make themselves more $$!
chuck Greener in the advertisement or slogan and youre doing something good for the environment. Like i said reducing Co2 is only prolonging the problem.

and trust me, dont flatter yourself i did not know you were a lesbian, all i knew is you were female. But fact is i dont care if youre lesbian, bi or butch! you guys still get it on right? im pretty sure from my knowledge of lesbian *censored* you do
but anyway you still need to loosen up abit dont be so monotone, its boring!

as for the Pming, thats what the function is there for, i wanted clarification on why you made an insulting comment about me and did so not wanting to pollute the forum with trivial banter. I do enough of that with AKR :hehe:

and as far as i can tell you do not need permission to send another member a PM so again get off your high horse missy and if you dont like it, then leave the forum :wavey:

Except that we were discussing reducing fuel consumption by 30% in F1, which would make a major change. As well as refocussing F1 engine development on fuel efficient, rather than maximum power, technology. This is a sizeable change for F1. It's more than just a slogan. But as I pointed out in my first reply on this topic, they can go further, with me pointing out vegetable oil powered engines as one potential alternative. So the original change would make F1 greener, in a quantifiable manner, not just as a slogan.

And if there's to be any solution to the current environment, reducing C02 is going to be central to it. And given the size and complexity of world society, there is never, ever, going to be one single big change where everyone stops polluting at once. So making a large number of changes, each of which makes one activity, one organisation, one something greener, with later changes improving the situation even more, is the only hope there is for sufficient change to avoid disaster. Criticising an organisation for making one such change is simply stupidly counter-productive. And shows that you can't see the bigger picture.

So you, who spends much of his time on this forum name-calling, tells me I need to loosen up. Oh, the irony! Looking at what you write on this forum and in PMs, the pattern is clear. As soon as anyone disagrees with you, particularly if they are in the right and have proper arguments that you couldn't hope to deal with, you start name calling. And you criticise others' posting styles?

And, to put it bluntly, I don't believe that you don't know. You were active in the same thread at the same time.

as for the Pming, thats what the function is there for, i wanted clarification on why you made an insulting comment about me and did so not wanting to pollute the forum with trivial banter. I do enough of that with AKR :hehe:

The comment was that you'd posted, as I put it, the "non-sequitur of the year". After I politely pointed out to you why it was a non-sequitur, you immediately started on the obscenity and name-calling. Though, this seems to be a pattern with you. And, you don't seem to be able to see the difference between people disagreeing with you, and pointing out the flaws in what you post, and insults. They are very different.

and as far as i can tell you do not need permission to send another member a PM so again get off your high horse missy and if you dont like it, then leave the forum :wavey:

It's not sending the PM that I felt was unusual. It's sending obscene PMs, making comments on peoples s e x lives, and calling people such as a "pile of poo" that I found rather childish of you. I haven't taken issue with any other PMs that I have been sent on this forum. I wonder why.

To be honest, Formula One engines are boring. They've basically been the same since 1989, so it's time we had some change.

 That is what I'm talking about! I say crank the boost and set a maximum dispacement at 1.8ltr and if a team wants to drop down to a 1.5ltr let them. I want the team's to once again have some say so in what engine they run.

Concerning the little debate between bud and FerrariFan63 I have to side with FerrariFan63. Clearly less fuel burned makes an engine GREENER because of fewer pollutant's. Being GREENER is not just a onesided affair about the pollutant's being released it is both the quality and quantity. Jeez it's even simple for me to understand :hehe: .

so its still ok to pollute just not as much as before!? seriously in my design studies Green is the new advertising fad! everyones jumping on and not every one who is claiming to be green is such!
and for F1 to reduce capacity and say we pollute 30% less so that makes us greener. Look at Honda's earth dream most green groups saw that as a pathetic marketing tool considering theres nothing Green about F1 and Honda's involvement. nor motorsports in general.

But just as i have said over and over saying something is "Greener" it is just postponing the inevitable. Its time to shutup and put up and take action, not a slow decrease! to be reliant on Fossil fuels no matter how much you burn or how little, is never going to be green let alone GREENER

F1 has the clout to make things happen in the auto industry KERS is a start but its not enough! the Image of the green car needs to be changed if it is to succeed in the minds of the car enthusiasts and motorsport fans out there.

The fact remain's that using less fuel lead's to producing less pollutant's which does fall under the greener umbrella, I'm finding it very hard to believe you do not see it. Also you should realize that this whole greener push is not an overnight result's crusade as it will take longer than your heart desire's. Do you honestly believe that F1's clout is going to be a major factor in the huge oil company's decision's to go green? This world will be using fossil fuel's and they will be the economic backbone of the world's society long after you and I are gone.

Maybe I'm missing the point your trying to make and vice versa as I'm by no mean's trying to discredit your view or say it is wrong  .

FFS Tex i understand what "greener" is. dont stoop to Ferrari fans high and mighty place and be a smart arse! i just dont buy it as easy as you it seems. i see it as a PR cop out. so large business groups image is seen to be doing something for the environment.

dont you see F1 is only talking green for its public image. do you honestly think that F1 is concerned about how much co2 it is emitting or do you think the world governments think that one race meet every 2 weeks is up there with the large industrial polluters? Image is the key word in this argument!

If F1 is seen as being green then its viable to keep it going. this is just pathetic false actions. F1 can make a stand and develop high performance truelly GREEN powerplants. in doing so would benefit the car market in sales as well as image. Would increase dramatically the Image of the green car to petrol heads and all motorsport and car fans alike!
and would also flow all the way down to Karting!

oh and Fossil fuels wont last forever, the rate that they are being used we might see in our lifetimes the last drops fall! or atleast become so rare that the price is no longer viable for everyday use.
dont worry it will come to an end, that or the earths end will beat it

I dont see where you get I'm being a 'smart arse' either? My gawd your so defensive if someone does not see or agree with your POV and instead of trying to be more understanding you start throwing out the FFS's along with the name calling. Frankly one cannot seem to have a constructive or mature conversation or debate with you before you jump into your own 'high and mighty' place.

Actually this whole debate between us is about if 30% less fuel used can be considered 'green' not the whole political agenda.

I do not disagree with any of that.

All this green talk from somebody who just got himself a V8 gas guzzler - kinda schizophrenic, isn't it? :P

No not really im not pretending im not a petrol head, but i want performance and there is no green performance cars out there for the masses, if there were i would buy them over the petrol driven car

which is why i want F1 to take a lead in this and not just for the soccer mums to drive billy to school and head off to work in an eco car, i want green sports cars
