Irvine would not have been made number one at Ferrari all a sudden. It was in Irvine's contract that the was at the team to be Schumacher's rear-gunner. Ferrari wanted to win the title for the team. Of course, they would have preferred Schumacher to win it, but things didn't work out like that. You're are completely off the mark when you say Schumacher didn't want Ferrari to win. Irvine only qualified fifth at Suzuka and managed to finish third - over one lap behind Hakkinen and Schumacher. Even if Schumacher had pulled over and waited one and a half minutes for Irvine to pass him, it would still not have been enough for him to win the title. Although he would be equal to Hakkinen on points, Hakkinen would win the title because he had more race wins. Irvine has only got himself to blame for not winning the title. Like I say, Kyros, that's why I can't take you seriously, for you just talk total rubbish. You've just go wrong basic, simple facts.

Compared to Schumi & Alonso, Lewis is the weakest champ of recent times.
Feel free to make your own comparisons between the 3.

A real champ would have driven for the win. Lewis didn't

Lewis is champion not by his own good driving, he was 6th and not champion till the championship was gifted to him. Not the way to become WDC.

A real champ like the previous to were fighters and would have won on the back of there own skill not somone else's lack of it. Lewis didn't.

I don't think you can compare him to Schumi.

I don't see how you can be "weak" when you win the F1 Title...

But this thread is about who is the weakest of the best, so to speak.

With the ammount of s*** that Hamilton has got this year, from the media, the FIA and also the racist's comments even!

He is no where near the weakest champion. He's driven some spectactular races this season, Monaco where he won after a brush with the wall, Silverstone where he won by over a minuite and China where he completely dominated.

He needed no help from his teammate at all to secure the title he won it on his own.

The Best driver of 2008 won this championship and that it is thoughly deserved.

You know nothing. You can't even spell correctly. Congratulations Lewis. He really won it at Spa except for the Nazi pervert's sidekicks.

Nobody that wins a WDC is a weak champion. Even those that are often cited such as Villeneuve & Rosberg. For those that saw Keke Rosberg race, he was phenomenally talented, a real pedal to the metal racer. just watch him around 1984 - 1986-ish. He often had poor reliability, but could race and beat the best of them on his day. Villeneuve is often cited for the reason that he didn't do much after winning his title, but the truth is if you look at 1998 Williams were saddled with the rubbish mechachrome engines, and yet he still made the podium a few times from memory, and after that he never again was in a competitive car. He too was an excellent racer on his day, he just seemed to badly lose his motiviation once at BAR - a trend that seems to have continued at Honda!!

To regard Hakkinen as a weak racer is utter trash too. Watch some of his races from 1994 and 1995 in truly horrible McLaren's where he blew away every team mate he was given, and drove often to the podium in cars that should only have been finishing Mid-pack at best.

To say that any two time champion (and Mika could have had another in 2000 were it not for McLaren's by then well known beyond poor reliability) including Mika is weak is just plain stupid.

You DO realize that calling Hamilton a weak champion is actually in insult to Massa, Alonzo and everyone else that matters?

By your logic then Massa got beat by a weak champion so what does that make him? I don't even want to bother with trying to explain it to you beyond that. If that alone doesn't make sense then nothing will. Maybe you can squeeze the juice from those sour grapes, call it wine and drink yourself to sleep until next year. :wavey:

GO HAMILTON!

Exactly. Compared to previous years. With relevance to the car they had and the strength of the field they won against.

Just think, had Massa won he would have been an even weaker champ as he didn't win any races from anywhere other than pole.

Do you realize thats exactly what I'm saying?
As stated I'm not a Massa or Alonso fan.
I think this season has been one of the least competitive (weak upsets too many) for a while.

I dont agree its been the least competative as its been pretty close with all the cars. I think what you mean is there hasnt been a run-away winner as there has been in past championships
