He has more pressure on his shoulders this year. After a very good 2007, expectations from him were higher. On top of that, with Alonso being shown the door, he now finds himself as de facto team leader, especially since Kovalainen has not done as well as he should. For a twenty-three year old young man, he's exceeded expectations. Hamilton is not the finished article yet, but he has all of the raw materials. He can only get better.

Formula One is a team sport. To an extent, sometimes the drivers' title is meaningless. Kubica has been the best driver this season, but hasn't had the technical equipment to seriously compete for the title.
