This is the way I'd rather the season ended.

To be honest, I think there has been too many negatives pulled from this, with talk about penalties and so on.
So, without referring to "should've won this race", or "shouldn't have gotten this penalty", tell us why you think either Felipe or Hamiliton should win, based on what they've done brilliantly at this year.

I would rather see the title decided like that too. I would rather see Lewis take the title for total justice like Jody Scheckter said.

I'd rather Massa to make up for all the mistakes made this season by Ferrari.

The championship has been funny this season. Massa has had some pretty good drives, but quite a few poor ones, and one or two utterly embarrassing ones. Hamilton has put in some vintage performances, but has made a couple of embarrassing gaffes. Ramming into the back of Raikkonen in Canada would be pretty far up your list of "Top-Ten Formula One Gaffes". When goes well for Hamilton, it goes very well; when it goes bad, it goes very, very bad. There is not a lot of middle ground. Considering everything, in my view, on balance, Hamilton deserves to be champion more than Massa. In fact, Hamilton already should have been champion. Massa, though, deserves the accolade of the most improved driver of 2008, so kudos to him for that.

Great point mate, I would love to see the season end like that as well and that the title isnt won by a penalty or something stupid. Even though I want Massa to win, I actually wouldnt mind if Lewis won.

well said.

Hamilton deserves it because a few of his drives will live longer in the memory than Massa's best drives, and points have been lost for Lewis and won for Felipe on the back of some poor decisions by the FIA. He has also been the breath of fresh air which F1 needed.

which ever one wins they have both had up and down seasons yet they both have stuck at it and both will be there again next season. i hope its a good race and want lewis to win but as much as that i hope the nobhead stewards/FIA dont ruin the race with stupid penalty`s cos they have f***ed up so many good races this season with poor penalty`s

i think lewis hamilton has brought the same buzz to f1 that the great Schumacher brought to f1.... with both drivers you either hate them or love them but must admit they are both great drivers as massa kimi and alonso are too

I know supporting Hamilton isn't the cool thing to do, but he just sort of became my guy over the course of the season. This was my first Formula One season, and as I started watching it and trying to learn the names, the teams, the regulations and so on, Hamilton just kept leaping out at me, and so he's just evolved into my driver of choice, though of course there's plenty of drivers that I respect.

I know Hamilton's attitude on the track can be a problem, and I hope he matures a bit there, and he's made some serious blunders that I wanted to strangle him for, but he's also a fantastic driver that we can count on to perform well every time, unlike some drivers that can own a race one weekend and suck out loud the next. Kimi for example races like he's last season's champion here and races like his heart just isn't into it there. If Hamilton didn't rear-end Kimi in Canada, not only throwing that race out the window but the following race as a result, and if it wasn't for the three-ring circus that was the start of the GP in Japan, Hamilton would pretty much have an entire season on the podium (pretty close). Then again, Massa normally puts on quite a show pretty consistently, too.

I dunno. I guess I can't entirely justify giving this one to Hamilton any more than I can Massa. However, I can't help but look back at 2007 and see Hamilton finishing just a single point shy of being the world champion at the close of his debut season. Looking back at last season, I see Hamilton finishing on the podium almost every time, as he really should have done this year, which is evidence to the skill of this driver. He so narrowly missed it last year, so I'd like to see him at least pick up the title this year.

With all ups and downs they both had, when you put all together Lewis was better driver; especially with FIA being biased toward Ferrari. Also, while he was a bit rude on the track, he did nothing as sneaky as Massa did recently (just my point of view) so looking of it from any angle I can think of, it has to be Lewis.

Lewis is the better driver and has had more spectacular drives. Massa has had bad luck and has never let it get the better of him, a hugely improved driver. The FIA have unfairly penalised Lewis and helped Massa. On balance it should go to Lewis.

You know what. I dont see either Lewis or Massa not wanting to shake hands at the end of this whichever way it goes (barring gross interference from the FIA of course)

That buzz lost fans and made the races processional though. (in the later years)
