Chris it is a know fact that the British were the only nation to ever successfully extict another.

Tell that to the Incas.

The Inca are not extinct. Mexicans are mainly of Inca origin rather than European. Or should I say Mestizo which is a mixture of European and Indigenous blood. But they look more Inca than European in appearance etc than European.

:hehe:

You know nothing about Pre-Colombine civilizations in the New World. Read up some, then come back.

And on the facts about colonizations, all the conquering nations were ruthless and cruel with the conquered many times, using Gog, the Queen, the King, or just freaking gold as the reason why.

I never said that all conquering nations were not ruthless. You misunderstand me. I said the British were the only ones to ever succeed in wiping out an entire race as the Inca "blooded" people still exist. Sorry I wrote Mexican instead of Columbian. Ooops we all make mistakes but if you assume I know nothing, then clearly you know nothing as I know plenty. :D Also worthy of a note as linguistics is what interests me, the Quechua language still exists and is also an offical language in Peru alongside Spanish. Apart from that it is spoken by peoples in that area, i.e. Colombia, Bolivia and Chile. That Quechua language dates as far as the Inca and although modern Quechua would differ (As all languages of today to from their ancestors) it was very much Inca in origin. The language isn't dead and neither are its speakers. Thus the Inca still live. Tasmanian Aborginals do not.

Can I ask exactly what the Incas have do do with racist comments on a website?

Anyway, I thought most of the native Central Americans who died did so because of European diseases rather than any deliberate policy of Spain. And as for Britain wiping out an entire race, what about Colonel Custer? Who was he after at Little Bighorn? The same Indians the British were allied to during the American War of Independence. Swings, roundabouts, Bygones.

Oh and the Brits really don't hate the Irish. Sure, it was our fault the potato famine happened but once again AKR you're dredging up ancient history which no-one cares about any more. There are certainly a few Irish who hate Brits, but very few British that I know who don't like the Irish. Certainly my Irish name (Heenan) has never been a problem. Oh and the IRA? They really were bad guys. Seriously. Less than thirty miles from where I'm typing this they blew up a pub and killed a whole bunch of people who were doing nothing more sinister than enjoying a night out.

Anyway, bygones.

p.s. I heard about a language in Central America which briefly died out recently because the last two people alive who spoke it had an argument and refused to talk to each other. true story.

That is terrible. But what about the innocent Irish that have been killed in retaliation to the IRA by British Police and soldiers? Does that not count as bad? Anyway both sides have their dark moments. My point the British are not all as innocent as a lot make out to be. Back to the topic Spain isn't racist. A minority few, probably kids as well, who make a stupid website cannot account for a whole nation or nationality. Also www.lewishamiltonsucks.com, I have seen racists remarks dropped there. Not by it's owners but by others. No one cares. Why? Is it because it is an English website? Well I think that is reason for concern. Those Engishmen who don't like Lewis Hamilton when it is their countryman racing for the glory of Britain, must have one reason they really don't like him. I doubt they are hardcore Ferrari tifosi as their site doesn't mention them being Ferrari Fans. I would say they are white English Supremist who don't like African Englishmen. (Sorry of that is the wrong term but not sure if using the word Black is politically correct). Now this is worse than any stupid Spanish anti-Hamilton website. But because it isn't Spanish no one cares. Interesting isn't?

Yes, that does count as bad. In the soldiers' defence though, if you had stones, bricks, molotov cocktails and the odd bullet flying in your direction, and a loaded gun in your hand, what do you think you would have done? Honestly? Not an excuse, but perhaps an explanation.

As for why the press haven't picked up on a British website showing racism towards Hamilton, I quite agree, but I think we all know it simply doesn't fit the narrative as well as if it's a Spanish website. Now that's something called xenophobia... Mind you they're a sharp bunch in the British press - the website they're all so indignant about has been in existence for over a year!

Likewise, the Portuguese and Spanish Explorations were not all sweetness and light either.

I never said or implied that. In fact I mentioned forced work conditions (like on mines).

I think AKR's example of the extinction of Tasmanian aborigines shows that the British conquest has a strong sense of racism which the Spanish and Portuguese did not have.

It was not me that Spain's history on the table as "proof" of our presumed racism.

As to football, which was was started this crap about racism is Spain together with F1, the only reason there are no people shouting racist remarks in British stadiums is that you'll find lots of spectators of African descent, so it would take courage to did it. Black spectators on a Spanish stadium are hard to come by, which allows the occasional racist to shout their remarks unharmed.

In fact, you'll find little racism in Spain towards black people. You'll find a lot more towards moors (mostly Moroccans).

And and your football hooligans keep being a disgrace when they go to Europe for the European cups. That attitude to me show a deep underlying feeling of superiority which is a close relative of racism.

Why are you using examples form the past and labeling them as if its the attitude of Brits today? Also why are you going on about football hooligans as if we think what there doing is right.

Racism is wrong so why try to defend the racists in your contry why not just agree with the fact that its wrong.

Inca civilisation was crushed without pity by the Spanish. True, some of their cultures lived on and now manifesto themselves in some ethnic groups in South America, but that is hardly equivalent to what was once a united, thriving culture. The Spanish were absolutely no different to the British, or anybody else for that matter.

Of course what Jose is false. All conquering nations had there downs. But I think Britain were the worst. (I have nothing against Brits but the comment I made is based on history I guess). You are Irish Chris and yet you defend the very country that even to this days has had hatred for the Irish. I don't need to go to detail as you know better than me the story with the IRA etc. And then the British always lie and make out that the IRA are the bad guys when infact it is usually the other way around. But that isn't anything new. In Australia in the 19th centrury Ned Kelly was pinned a bad guy but in reality he was a good guy. He was of Irish background and the law people (The police) always picked on his family and people. His problem was that he took matters into his own hands. Ah the British.................. At least on a more positive note, countries that were formed by the British have better governments than those by the Latin countries. Take Australia, New Zeland, The USA and Canada. All better to live in than countries like Brazil (Protuguese), Argentina (Spanish and Italian), Mexico (Spanish) etc etc etc.

You are just beginning to backtrack, Kiki. The only reason I can think of that would support your argument about the British being the worst of all the imperial powers was because their Empire was the biggest, and thus more people were oppressed. In terms of their attitudes, I repeat, Britain was no different that anybody else.

Your views on Ireland are a total disgrace. I don't think there has been single point on this forum that has filled me with as much rage as that. The IRA are an illegal terrorist organisation who killed, injured and bereaved tens of thousands of innocent people and destroyed billions of pounds of property. A great number of the people they murdered were people from their own community! I've had personal experience of what went on Northern Ireland, so if you want me to tell you some stories about what the IRA did - for instance, the one where they threw a pipe bomb into a car with my father or in it, or when they put a land mine on the road which blew up his landrover, or when they shot his best friend before his eyes - feel free to ask. I'm Irish, yes, but that does not mean I support an illegal terrorist organisation. Virtually nobody in Ireland knows what they are taking about when it comes to politics, and nor does anybody outside of Ireland. What has happened has been manipulated by various groups over the years for their own gains. Thankfully, I was brought up in tolerant, mixed family, was intelligent enough to go to university and am now living in Scotland, so can cast a more objective view on my homeland - unlike some, Kiki.

What the hell are you talking about? When their IRA started their terrorist campaign, the police and army had to be mobilised to protect people and their property. There were some innocent casualties of the troubles, yes, but the police and army were fighting a war in Northern Ireland, and nor were there as many as you suggest. Many of these people killed were out rioting and shooting against the police and army etc. and were killed accidentally with plastic bullets. To be honest, I've not got too much sympathy for them. If they weren't out causing disorder, destruction and death, they would never have been hurt.

From F1 Live:

The website at the centre of the latest Lewis Hamilton racism storm has been removed from the internet.

The development followed a media storm, after it emerged that Spanish fans left obscene messages about the McLaren driver's ethnicity on the site.

Britain's foreign secretary was urged by government politicians Keith Vaz and Andy Burnham to make a formal protest about the affair to the Spanish government.

McLaren team boss Ron Dennis commented from Brazil: "Really it's not for us to take action against these people; in some instances it's government and in some instances it's organisations that are designed specifically to address these issues in this world."

The site was run by the Spanish branch of the New York-based global advertising agency TWBA.

"This is not what we condone as a company," spokesman Jeremy Miller told The Guardian, promising to take 'appropriate action' once it had made further enquiries.

Fernando Alonso, F1's only Spanish driver, also condemned the racism of the website's users, who have been referred to as his fans.

"If it's true, obviously this is not possible (acceptable)," he told reporters at Interlagos. "In 2008 we cannot have these kind of people in our world."
