David Coulthard doesn't like favourtism, so surely he wouldn't accept a fixed win.

He is too gentlemanly (at least in his racing) to do so. ITV should do something special for him, like they did with Schumacher. Despite his occasional whine, I like DC and I will miss him when he's gone.

In truth, I've mixed views about Coulthard leaving. I think he was a decent enough driver and team player, can be quite funny, has had a good innings, and then there's the nostalgic factor, simply because he's been around for a while. What puts me off him, however, is that he always has an axe to grind or a chip on his shoulder: he claims Williams were stifling his career and McLaren were backing Hakkinen (both of which were spurious lies); and when something went wrong, he was never to blame. And now he is permanently whining about safety standards, even being as delusioned to claim that the traction control ban would result in fatal crashes. Thinking about it, he deserves a good "send-off", and I do think he is selling himself short by doing punditry with the BBC. He may have lost his natural speed, but he is still capable of racing or being involved in Formula One more than what he will be.

Well, racing would be good for him, 'cause I know that a lot of the drivers who've stopped racing are bored out of their skulls...

DTM, then? He could show Ralf how it's really done.

It might be dangerous now, so he would have to carry out a full safety analysis before he could come to a decision. :scratchchin:

One of the reasons he said he was retiring was because he wasn't prepared to put the effort in to adapt to the new rule changes. It would take a lot of work on changing his driving style to do well in DTM, and this was never really Coulthard's strength anyway. When you take into account those things, a Formula One testing role would maybe be best for him.

I've got some risk assessment forms he could use... :hehe:

I do agree. Maybe he could race his old MP4-13 in EuroBOSS? :P

He definitely has plenty to give to the sport yet, and his experience would make him a valuable test driver, much like Schumacher. In all honesty, I can see guys like Trulli, Fisichella and Barrichello staying in the sport long after they've retired, simply because of the amount of fresh talent that is around at the moment.

Well, there is a reasonable number of people with potential, perhaps more that what there has been in a while, but they aren't quite ready to make the step up to Formula One just yet, and, even when they are ready, it will take them a while to settle in.

Quite. Which is why teams will need the older guys to help out with car development. :)

It'll be different without Coulthard, but I dont think it will be as different when Barrichello leaves.

Yeah, it'll be safer around the tracks with fewer safety cars out when DC is gone :hehe:

Barrichello is the last link between the modern era and the days of Senna. There is a chance that we could be seeing the end of an era next weekend, for we don't know whether he'll be racing next season or not.

Nick Fry will most likely receive an unfriendly letter. Then Mr Berger will receive a very polite, begging letter.

Holy crap, i hadn't considered that prospect!! I really can't see it happening, because surely people in F1 can't be that stupid to let him leave entirely?! Maybe i'm giving those people too much credit though... :P:(

First, I like your avatar. In terms of Barrichello, I can see him trying his best to get some type of driving in Formula One for next season, but Nick Fry, Formula One's new Mini Hitler, it's uncertain whether he'll be at Honda next season.

Heh, i've renewed my appreciation for the MP4/4 recently, what a brilliant car. Senna's first reaction to it was simply "this is going to be f*cking quick" 8-)

As for Barichello, are both Force India drivers confirmed for next season? Cause if he went there he could do some damage in a customer McLaren methinks!
