We would welcome the opportunity to help any auto manufacturer with understanding the full capabilities of the GT-R

was the Mclaren F1 ever taken around the ring?

I don't think so.

Bugatti should get in touch with them and hook the computer system up with the Veyron's 4wd!!

Personally I don't think the McLaren F1 would like the ring too much. Is a little on the twitchy side. Don't get me wrong it would set a fairly decent time, but compared with modern "hyper"cars it's a rather blunt instrument.

Well, it would certainly need a Scandinavian, Senna or Schumacher to drive it, for they like(d) cars that oversteer! That said, I do think the McLaren F1 would be bettered by some of the more modern cars. When you factor in its age, with the possible exception of the Veyron, the McLaren F1 is streets ahead of other supercars. The interesting thing is that there is a number of ways it could be improved, so I would like to see McLaren give it ago. The Veyron can be beaten - and that's a scary thought. It's a wonderful reflexion of the human desire to continuously push the limit further and further.

Here is the current listing of records at the Nurburgring compliments of Shrub:) .

I'm surprised the Veyron could only manage 7:40 actually, especially with that long straight!

I'd like to see what something like the Gumpert Apollo or Caparro T1 could manage, or a Ferrari FXX for that matter.

True, however the Veyron 0-200mph time is faster than the McLaren's 100-200mph time . . . . thats a scary thought, and the advantage of turbo power. The McLaren is loved for what it was, not what it is. The Veyron may be beaten in top speed or handling etc but it may be 20years untill its beaten as an all rounder . . . after all it does cost £5m to make each one!

True, It would be intresting to turbo charge the Mclaren to see what could be archived.

That said there is a rumour of a new F1 comming out, can't wait to see what it does.

Rumours have been flying around about this for a while. One even suggested that Gordon Murray was to be involved. I'm convinced its possible to build something faster than the Veyron, and who better to do it than McLaren.
